HYDERABAD, Aug 23: Three people, including driver of a trailer were killed in an accident near Khyber on the National Highway on Thursday. Edhi volunteers brought the bodies to Edhi Welfare Centre, Khursheed Town.
A trailer#ELE-394 loaded with chaff rammed into another PLH-971 laden with stone causing serious injuries to Mohammad Haneef Shakir 40, Mohammad Khalas 35 and a cleaner.
Edhi volunteers were shifting the injured to hospital when they succumbed on way.
The Motorway Police said it appeared driver of trailer ELE-394 had a catnap and dashed into another because there were no signs of violation by the driver of second trailer.
Both trailers were coming from Rahim Yar Khan to Karachi.
Our Badin correspondent adds: A woman and her minor daughter lost their lives and 20 passengers received injured when a coach, driven by an inexperienced conductor, plunged into a ditch on Hyderabad-Badin road near Peeru Lashari on Thursday.
The accident occurred after the driver of the Badin-bound coach coming from Hyderabad had handed over steering to bus conductor, according to witnesses.
The deceased were identified as Saffa, 30, and her 10-year old daughter Shanti. Ten out of 20 injured passengers -- including Yar Mohammad Jamali, Rafiq Ahmed Arain, Veenjho Kolhi, Abdul Ghaffar -- were taken to the Badin Civil Hospital and the remaining to Talhar and Peeru Lashari health centres.
Road accidents, mainly caused by irresponsible driving and disregard for traffic rules, lead to hundreds of deaths every year in the country.
