MARDAN, Aug 27: A teenaged girl of the Bakhshali area has alleged that she was gang-raped by four men and then sold to a woman in Rawalpindi who in turn sold her to a person in Chiniot.
Narrating her ordeal at the Mardan Press Club here on Monday, Rabia Bibi, daughter of Mohammad Younus, claimed that she was alone in her house on April 25, as her parents were away in connection with a relative’s death, when two women of her neighbourhood — Maryam and Rukhsana — came and invited her to a Quran Khwani at their house.
She said that when she went to their house, the women offered her tea, after drinking which she fell unconscious. She said that when she regained her senses she found herself in a different house.
Ms Rabia said the husbands of Maryam and Rukhsana — Mohammad Hayat and Wahid Zaman — gang-raped her all night. She said that for the other night they took her to a house in the Rustam village, where they and two other men, identified as Rahat Fauji and Syedul Ibrar, raped her.
She claimed that they then took her to Chhota Lahore in Swabi where they again subjected her to torture and sexual abuse. After this, she said, the four men sold her to a woman, Parveen, in Rawalpindi who sold her for Rs100,000 to a Chiniot man. There she was “married” to a deaf and dumb boy, Nasir.
Rabia’s father Mohammad Younus said they came to know of her ordeal through a taxi driver of Bakhshali who informed him that Hayat and Zaman had taken her in his taxi to Rawalpindi. He said that he took a jirga of elders to Chiniot on Aug 18 and had to buy his own daughter for Rs60,000.
Ms Rabia said she was subjected to extreme brutality and sexual abuse by the four men who were now threatening her and her family with dire consequences if they pursued the case.
She appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to provide her security as well as to her family.
District Police Office Akhtar Hayat Gandapur told this correspondent that some members of the “gang of kidnappers” had been arrested and charged under sections 371 A, 372 and 376. He claimed that soon the entire gang would be brought to book.
