MARDAN, Aug 28: A watchman and some students were injured in a clash on Tuesday between activists of the Pukhtoon Students Federation (PSF) and the employees of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Mardan, over the delivery of marks certificates.

It has been learnt that some activists of the PSF visited the BISE offices on Monday evening for obtaining their marks certificates but a watchman told them that the offices were closed. The PSF members and the watchman exchanged hot words.

On Tuesday morning, some PSF members reached the BISE offices in a bus and beat up the watchman, identified as Farzan Ali. They later tried to go inside the office but the staff came out and beat up some of the students.

The students went back to their college and blocked the main Mardan-Malakand Road for three hours. They claimed that the BISE staff had humiliated them.

They raised slogans against the secretary of the board and demanded his transfer. District nazim Himayatullah Khan Mayar reached the venue and talked to the students and convinced them that their problem would be solved amicably. The students ended their protest.
