KHAIRPUR, Aug 29: Twenty-one FIRs have been lodged against five police officials including a former SHO and two ASIs. The FIRs were registered on the directives of Sindh High Court Sukkur bench.

Twenty one persons who were illegally detained by Sobhodero police namely Abdul Latif, Anwar Ali, Allah Wadhayo, Niaz Hussain, Awais, Mushtaq Ali and others lodged these FIRs with Sobhodero police under section 344, 337-F1, 452, 161 PPC on Wednesday against the former SHO, Ghulam Hussain Samtio, ASI Shahnawaz Gopang, ASI Manzoor Ahmed Hingoro, police constables Altaf Hussain and Mohammad Yasin.

Reports said that Ghulam Hussain Samtio has been nominated in seven cases out of these 21 cases whereas the two ASIs and PCs have been nominated in other cases.

All the complainants appeared before the Sindh High Court Sukkur bench comprising of Justice Azizullah Memon and Syed Sajjad Ali Shah on Tuesday and recorded their statements regarding their illegal detention and police torture.

The court directed the DPO Khairpur to lodge separate cases against the police officials.

On August 16, raid commissioner of Sindh High Court had raided Sobhodero police station where 22 men were found in illegally confinement. The 22 detainees told the raid commissioner that they had been illegally detained and subjected to torture.
