LAHORE, Aug 29: The preparations of the Pakistan ‘A’ team for an expectedly tough home series against Australia ‘A’ could not begin fully even on Wednesday at the Gaddafi Stadium.
The PCB’s late decision of holding a training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium from Tuesday, is likely to end in trouble as the Australians are scheduled to reach Pakistan on Saturday. And so far no considerable training has taken place due to the absence of many probables and inclement weather.
Only 12, out of a total of 27 probables, could report on the first day of the camp on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the second session of the camp could not be held at the Gaddafi Stadium due to heavy rain which forced the management to shift the camp to the indoor hall of the NCA.
Three key players namely Mohammad Sami, Naved Latif and Asim Kamal are yet to join the camp. When contacted, manager Mian Mohammad Munir said Sami had reached Lahore Wednesday evening, adding he would attend the camp from Thursday.
About Naved, he stated the batsman was in England and hopefully would join the camp soon. Meanwhile, Asim, he said, has gone to Saudi Arabia for Umra. “We hope Asim will join the camp in the next two days.”
