KARACHI, Aug 30: Demonstrating superior shooting skills, holders Army whipped Wapda 60-50 in the action-packed final to retain the National Inter-departmental Basketball title at Arambagh floodlit court on Thursday.

The soldiers enjoyed a firm grip on the match right from the word go and led 32-19 at half time.

Khalid led his team from the front with an individual score of 21. Mudassir (14) and Waheed (11) were the other major contributors.

Prem Shahzad, who has played an anchor-sheet role in his team’s earlier triumphs, top scored with 16. He got valuable support from M. Akhtar (12) and Jahangir (11).

Meanwhile, the participating teams were entertained to a dinner reception given in their honour by Nazim Saddar Town, Mohammad Dilawar, at the venue.
