DADU: Five more bodies found in Sehwan

DADU, Sept 5: Five more bodies were found in Ghari Wari area of Sehwan town on Wednesday, two days after the conclusion of three-day Urs celebrations of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz, taking the death toll to 41 over past five days.

The in-charge of Edhi Centre, Ishfaque Ahmed Khushik, said that the bodies were still lying where they were found and he would move to pick then after police had fulfilled their formalities.

The bodies could not be identified because some of them had been decomposed beyond recognition. Of the 41 bodies found so far, only 19 had been identified and handed over to relatives, while the unclaimed ones had been buried in Sehwan graveyard.

Sehwan Taluka Nazim Sikandar Ali Rahupoto said that that tractor trolleys had been sent to pick the bodies, which would then be handed over to taluka hospital.

Officials Suspended: Regional Director of Ombudsman on Wednesday sealed 20 modules of different waterways after he found them tempered during a raid and ordered to suspend six irrigation officials on charges of illegally selling irrigation water.

The regional director, Saeed Khan Mubejo, raided Pahore, Piaro, Jagir Khudabad, Phika and Pir Gunio waterways fed by Dadu Canal and Johi Branch after growing complaints from the growers of the area.

He directed the irrigation officials to seize water-lifting machines and register FIR against the growers involved in theft of water in Johi and Dadu sub-divisions.

The official also raided on the office of Dadu mukhtiarkar after receiving complaints about tempering of revenue record and sealed the record maintained by three tapedars, Ayaz Panhwar, Aijaz Naich and Mazhar Hussain.

He suspended the revenue officials and directed the EDO of revenue to hold enquiry against them and send him a report in this regard within seven days.

He said that he had also recommended the irrigation department removal of executive engineer of Dadu.
