HYDERABAD, Sept 6: Teachers of the Government Sachal Sarmast Arts and Commerce College have threatened to launch a protest movement with parents and students if the college’s administrative and financial crises were not resolved by Sept 10.

The decision had been taken at a meeting of the general body of the teachers, held here on Wednesday evening.

The meeting warned that the officials of the education department would be responsible for the consequences.

They claimed that a person, who did not enjoy good reputation and was far junior and transferred from Khipro over the complaints of the administration, was thrust upon them as principal of their college.

The meeting resolved that the teachers would resort to social boycott and non-cooperation if he was posted as principal.

The meeting demanded of the Sindh governor, chief minister and chief secretary to reinstate Prof Nazeer Hussain Pathan, principal of the college, Tariq Masood Qureshi and Zulfiqar Panhwar, who were suspended illegally--according to their claim.

They further demanded payment of salaries to the contract lecturers who were not paid the same for the past six months.

They also demanded that financial powers of Prof Pathan should be restored to clear college’s electricity, gas and water bills.
