HYDERABAD, Sept 10: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the Provincial Police Officer (PPO) Sindh to recover Ghulam Rasool Sarhandi, the son of applicant Pir Ghulam Mujadid Sarhandi and produce him before Justice Rana Bhagwandas on October 1.

The order was passed on a human rights application, filed by Ghulam Mujadid Sarhandi of Dargah Sarhandi, Matiari. His lawyer in Hyderabad Ayaz Tunio said that Sarhandi filed application before the apex court, mentioning that his 17--year old son, Ghulam Rasool Sarhandi, was kidnapped from the jurisdiction of Gulshan-i-Iqbal (Karachi) police on July 20 and an FIR was lodged against Zulfikar Ali Shah Jamote and his henchmen. He has sought the recovery of his son for which directives have been issued by the apex court. Sarhandis are involved in a legal battle with Jamotes.

Earlier a civil judge and judicial magistrate had ordered registration of an FIR against the SHO Matiari police station and police post in-charge Oderolal for keeping his brother Abdul Haleem Sarhandi in wrongful detention.

According to Mujadid, Matiari police and district nazim had reacted strongly against them and arrested their several disciples in a police action on August 21.

He again filed an application against police action of August 21 before the session judge which was heard by the additional district judge-I, who ordered registration of an FIR against the district nazim, DPO and SHO of Matiari and several others.

However, the operation of order was suspended by the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, after a petition was filed by the district nazim and others.
