HYDERABAD, Sept 10: Adviser to Sindh chief minister on information technology Noman Saigal has said that IT ministry is launching Rs100 million automation project for Hyderabad Civil Hospital while Rs70 million has been earmarked for computerisation of 500 police stations of Sindh in the current fiscal year.
Talking to journalists at the hospital’s committee room here on Monday, the adviser said that automation project of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) was being carried out at cost of Rs140 million while automation project of Hyderabad’s Civil Hospital, its Jamshoro branch and the eye hospital would cost Rs100 million.
“Everything including drugs’ availability, patients’ admission and doctors’ duties will be checked easily under this computerisation programme of hospital”, said the adviser.
He said that the same would be replicated in Mirpurkhas, Larkana and Sukkur by IT ministry. He said hospital management would be able to launch telemedicine services under this project. He said that hospital would have a linkage facility with outside world and at home.
He said level of coordination between departments and, among doctors, will be improved as well to bring qualitative changes in hospital’s working as availability of specialist doctors had been a problem in government hospitals. He said that its PC-I is under preparation and soon it would be ready for execution.
“It will be monitored as well and even Governor will be able to monitor working of civil hospital in governor’s house”, he said. He said that project would be completed by private sector after ensuring transparency and merit in the bidding process.
He said only a few companies had been short listed for tendering process because the penalty under contracts’ clauses are very strict.
“Soon we will have paperless management”, he remarked. He said that computerisation would facilitate people in getting different certificates from medico legal section for legal formalities.
He said that e-policing would be carried out at a cost of Rs950 million for Sindh police and police would be equipped with vehicle tracking system, FIRs’ registration through computer and installation of cameras. He said Rs70 million had been issued for e policing and hoed that Rs300 million would be released in current fiscal year to IT ministry.
He said that out of total 18 projects of IT ministry worth Rs18 billion, projects of Rs4 billion had been launched. He said that internet media city was being established by IT ministry for which a land had been purchased at a cost of Rs150 million.
