DADU, Sept 13: The president of the Sindh chapter of People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP), Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has said that Ms Benazir Bhutto has never supported Gen Pervez Musharraf and will never accept him in uniform.

Mr Shah said at the 24th anniversary of MRD martyrs of Khairpur Nathan Shah at the town’s community centre on Wednesday night that some elements were ill-advising the general to impose emergency because they had no belief in people. Such a move would be similar to asking him to commit suicide, he said.

He said that the martyrs of Khairpur Nathan Shah laid down their lives for the restoration of democracy following in the footsteps of party founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who also sacrificed his life for the rights of people.

He urged people to struggle for their rights and stressed that it was their right to rule the country. Only the corrupt did not believe in people power hence they did not expect any support from them, he said.

The opposition leader in Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, said that the parties in the All-Parties Democratic Movement were united against PPP.

He said that the parties, which had been calling Nawaz Sharif enemy of Islam in the past, were today supporting him. Mr Sharif had gone to Saudi Arabia under a written agreement with the government but before making an attempt to come back he was asked to create differences in ARD, he said.

BOYCOTT: Primary school teachers boycotted classes on Thursday and staged a rally and a demonstration in protest against what they called an influential person’s attempts to occupy the property of main primary school of the town.
