SWABI, Sept 17: The workers of the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) held a demonstration here on Monday demanding arrest of the killers of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) leader Maulana Hassan Jan.

A prominent religious scholar, Maulana Hassan was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Peshawar on Saturday.

The IJT members belonging to the Government Postgraduate College gathered at the Gohati bus stop and raised slogans against the government for its failure to provide security to people.

Led by Faqir Taj, the protesters said that the government should take immediate steps to arrest the killers and bring them to justice.

They said it usually happened that such cases had been forgotten after some time but they warned that the followers of Maulana Hassan would never allow the government to throw this case in the cold storage.

MARDAN DBA: The District Bar Association Mardan in a meeting here on Monday condemned the assassination of renowned religious scholar Maulana Hassan Jan in Peshawar and demanded arrest of his killers.

The meeting presided over by Abdul Ahad Khan Advocate paid homage to Maulana Jan and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, the JUI (F) in a meeting here expressed grief and sorrow over the assassination of Maulana Jan. MNA Maulana Mohammad Qasim presided over the meeting.
