HYDERABAD, Sept 17: The District Coordination Officer Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri has directed revenue officers having powers of special judicial magistrate to expedite their efforts by paying surprise visits to markets and take action against those involved in overcharging.

He gave the directives while checking and monitoring the performance of revenue officers during surprise visits to different markets on Sunday.

The DCO was accompanied by the Nazims of union councils including Q. Mohammad Hakim, Rashid Khan and revenue officers during his visit to different parts of Latifabad and Hyderabad City talukas.

He warned the shopkeepers against overcharging failing which strict action would be taken against them. He also appealed to the people to refrain from paying excessive prices and lodge complaints and cooperate with local administration in controlling market prices.

The DCO said 12 flour stalls had been established with the assistance of the District Food Department where 10kg bag was available for Rs155. Besides, people can purchase other kitchen items from these Bachat Bazars and avoid paying high rates.
