HYDERABAD, Sept 17: A large number of Chakki owners staged sit-in outside the office of Deputy Director Food Shahbaz Building on Monday against non-supply of wheat.

Talking to Dawn by telephone, the President Hyderabad Atta Chakki Owners Social Welfare Association, Haji Nawab Ali said the association had been assured by deputy director that the Sindh chief secretary and secretary food were expected to take some decisions within the next 24 hours.

He said according to unofficial information communicated to him, the wheat quota of Chakkis had been increased from 37 bags per unit per week to 54 while the wheat quota of roller flour mills from 560 bags per unit to 600 bags. He said official notification in this regard was expected within a couple of days.
