ABBOTTABAD, Sept 17: The project manager of the Earthquake Reconstraction and Rehabilitation Authority’s district reconstruction unit has said that work on 116 schemes in quake-affected areas of the district is in progress, which will cost Rs1.209 billion.

Talking to Dawn here on Sunday, Syed Nazar Hussain Shah hoped that the projects would be completed before Oct 8.

He said more than 150 other projects would be taken up after completion of formalities.

In the education sector, he said, work was in progress on 97 schemes at a cost of Rs752.331 million and 10 projects were being carried out in the governance sector at a cost of Rs245 million.

Reconstruction of the Abbottabad Central Jail has not been started because a propo-sal to shift the jail to some other place is under consideration. An amount of Rs89.612 million has been allocated for the project, he said.
