KARACHI, Sept 24: Propelled by half-centuries from skipper Haris Sohail and Zaman Jamil, Sialkot reached 283 in their first innings against Karachi Urban on the opening day of the three-day PCB Inter-regional Under-19 Cricket Championship match at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground on Monday.

Haris top-scored with 59 while Zaman made 54 after Sialkot elected to bat first.

Leg-spinner Shahzaib Khan claimed five for 93 in 34.1 overs while slow left-armer Mirza Ehsan Jamil took four for 69 in 22 overs.

Karachi Urban closed at 30 for one.

Peshawar’s slow left-armer Jibran Khan returned the day’s best figures of seven for 43 in 22.3 overs as Karachi Harbour were dismissed for 189 at the TMC Ground.

Peshawar were 45 for two in reply at draw of stumps.

After the one-day fixture between Islamabad and Abbottabad was washed out on Saturday, there was a full day’s play at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad.

Put into bat, Abbottabad did well to score 239 in their first innings. Islamabad skipper Imad Wasim captured five for 106 with his left-arm spin.

The hosts, however, struggled to 59 for three.

Rain played havoc in the game in Okara where Multan were 109 for three in 33 overs against Hyderabad. Play was suspended for the rest of the afternoon after it was stopped at 12.49pm.

Rawalpindi, meanwhile, reached 256 against Faisalabad at the Iqbal Stadium after Usama Sharoon (58) and Hammad Azam (37) started with an opening stand of 85.

At Diamond Club Ground, Islamabad:

ABBOTTABAD 239 in 79.4 overs (Zeeshan Jadoon 59, Irfan Khan 49; Imad Wasim 5-106); ISLAMABAD 59-3 in 11 overs.

At Gymkhana Ground, Okara:

MULTAN 109-3 in 33 overs v HYDERABAD.

At Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad:

RAWALPINDI 256 in 82.3 overs (Usama Sharoon 58, Samiullah 43; Hasan Mahmood 4-80); FAISALABAD 3-2 in 2.5 overs (Mohammad Rameez 2-1).

Our Sports Correspondent adds from Lahore: An unbeaten half-century by Babar Manzoor helped Lahore Shalimar reach 156-2 against Quetta on the rain-hit opening day at the LCCA Ground.

Babar scored 69 off 123 balls with three sixes and four boundaries as Lahore Shalimar batted for 45 overs before heavy rain stopped play for the day.
