SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 24: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool visited the city here on Monday and inspected various federal government offices.

The governor who reached the city through motorway went to the Employees Old-age Benefit Institution (EOBI) office located at housing colony. He checked the record there and instructed the staff to provide maximum facilities to retired workers.

Later, the governor visited Wapda office on Lahore Road and held a meeting with officials, directing them to solve the people’s problems forthwith.

The governor also visited Nadra office and Waris Shah deaf and dumb school. He directed district coordination officer Muzaffar Mehmood to acquire a piece of land for the school to extend its building.

The governor held an open court at the District Government Complex. A large number of complaints against police, Sui gas, Wapda, education, and other departments stunned the governor as a result he reprimanded the officials concerned.

On a complaint, Mr Maqbool ordered shifting of an 11KV wire crossing over top-roofs of various houses.

Addressing the gathering, the governor urged the people to support Pervez Musharraf in the larger interest of the country. He claimed that the present government had executed a record development projects.

“Sheikhupura is a part of Lahore, therefore campuses of different universities are being constructed in the district.”

He ordered district nazim Mian Jalil Ahmed Sharaqpuri to improve the conditionof Sharaqpur Road at theearliest.

He expressed his resentment over the delay in starting work on Hiran Minar interchange project despite the fact that President Musharraf had already sanctioned it five years ago.

The governor suspended the B-division SHO for beating Lahore-based journalists at the entrance gate of the open court.
