NAWABSHAH, Sept 26: The sanitation staff of municipal administration Nawabshah taluka observed strike to press for the acceptance of their demands on Wednesday.

The work charge/contractual and regular sanitation staff of the TMA Nawabshah set-up a camp at the Christian Colony. They boycotted the work and raised slogans against the TMA in the camp.

Punhoram, Putras Maqbool, Ashfaq Sameul, Anwar Buksha and others told reporters sanitary staff was not regularised since 1993. They said despite the announcement of president Musharraf minimum wage of a labour would be Rs4,600, they were only getting Rs3,000.

They said that they were even not given scholarship funds since years due to which their children were not getting education. They demanded acceptance of demands from taluka nazim, Abdul Rauf Khan.

The TMO said municipal staff was not on strike and the matter of contractual staff strike was concerned to sanitation contractors.
