Streets and markets were strewn with garbage making impossible for citizens to move due to the stink. Citizens are at the risk of catching disease because of filth. The sanitation staffs of municipal administration Nawabshah are on strike for the acceptance of their demands.

The work charge/contractual and regular sanitation staff set-up a camp at the Christian Colony boycotted the work and raised slogans against the TMA in the camp.

Punhoram, Putras Maqbool, Ashfaq Samuel, Anwar Buksha and others told reporters that the sanitary workers were not regularized since 1993. They said despite the announcement to fix minimum wage of a labour at Rs4,600, they were only getting Rs3,000.
