Court stops judo body’s elections

Published October 3, 2007

LAHORE, Oct 2: A senior civil judge has granted stay-order to Punjab Judo Association president Samina Khan, ordering the Punjab Olympic Association not to hold elections of the provincial judo body.

A Punjab Judo Association spokesman in a press statement stated that the judge had issued the stay-order, as the Punjab Olympic Association had appointed an election commission headed by Munir Dar to conduct the elections, making illegal interference in affairs of an independent body.

Meanwhile, Samina Khan has called a general council meeting of the judo association in Lahore on Sunday.
