SUKKUR, Oct 6: The executive district officer agriculture, Sukkur, has said that fish farming can play an important role in poverty alleviation and economic uplift of the farming community and the government is providing all possible incentives to those associated with this sector.

He said this while talking to newsmen at his office here on Saturday.

He said that the chief minister Sindh, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, was taking keen interest in the promotion of fisheries sector and provision of loans to the farmers with a minimum mark-up.

He informed that supply of fish seed of various indigenous and exotic species had been started while adding that technical assistance is also being provided to the farmers free of cost in setting up of fish farms.—APP
