KHAIRPUR, Oct 6: Police on Saturday booked about 15 taxi drivers on charges of blocking the road and suspending traffic a day ago.

ASI Ali Shah said in an FIR lodged at the A-Section police station that Ali Rakhiyo Janwari, Inyatullah, Fida Hussain Khaskheli and twelve other taxi drivers were accused them of blocking the Station Road near Khaki Shah bridge late on Friday evening. When they were asked to open the road they refused, he added.

Earlier, over 20 taxi drivers blocked the road for more than an hour which brought the traffic to a halt on Friday evening. They were protesting against the arrest of their colleague Irshad by Sohrah police.

The taxi drivers raised slogans against police and accused the law enforcers of harassing and manhandling the arrested driver. They had blocked the road by parking their vehicles on the road.
