HYDERABAD, Oct 8: The University of Sindh and Institute of Bankers Pakistan (IBP) have singed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch MBA degree programme in banking and finance from next academic session.
The signing ceremony was held at the university’s senate hall at Allama I. I. Kazi campus in Jamshoro on Monday. The MoU was signed by Saleem Omer, executive director, IBP, and M. Saleh Rajar, registrar of the university. Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, pro-vice chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration Dr Anwar Ali Shah, deans of other faculties, heads of institutes and departments and students attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Siddiqui said that banking industry is one of the most important industries and is providing services at large scale. He said that it has excelled other industries and its importance is recognised by all sections of society.
He said that MBA in banking and finance would provide excellent job opportunities to university graduates within the country as well as abroad.
He expressed the hope that the university and the IBP would sign MoU in other areas also in the near future. Mr Omar said that signing of MoU with universities was aimed to build a bridge between industry, banking sector and academia. He said that IBP started this programme five years ago and it continues to serve the society and industry by providing skilled manpower. He said that during five years, IBP has signed same programme with 10 universities and business schools of the country to promote focused human resources for industry and banking sector.
