GILGIT, Oct 20: President Gen Pervez Musharraf will visit Gilgit on Tuesday for which arrangements, particularly security measures, are being finalised.

Sources said the president would inaugurate 18MW Naltar power project, 35km northwest of Gilgit, during his visit. The project has been recently completed by Chinese engineers as a Sino-Pak joint venture to overcome power crisis in the region.

They said the president would also address a joint session of the Northern Areas Legislative Council and notables in the Army Auditorium in Gilgit. The president is expected to make some important announcements regarding the status of the region at the occasion, they added.
