HYDERABAD, Oct 21: Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has demanded formation of a judicial commission headed by a Supreme Court judge to probe into October 18 twin blasts in Benazir Bhutto’s rally in Karachi on Thursday. He also called for including Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, ruling coalition partner MQM and intelligence agencies in the investigation. He was speaking to journalists before chairing a condolence meeting here on Sunday at the Tarraqi Pasand house. He said that regardless of the fact that fascist forces wanted to wreak havoc in the country, struggle for democracy and supremacy of the constitution would continue. He said that there would be no compromise with the forces which wanted to destroy civil liberties. He said: “Taliban and Al-Qaeda have denied having issued any threats to Benazir Bhutto. Therefore, the only factor that is to be looked into as far as the twin blasts are concerned are the MQM and intelligence agencies”. He tried to draw a parallel between October 18 and May 12 events when Chief Justice Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhary was not allowed to attend a reception in Karachi as well as Nishtar Park massacre on Eid Milad-un-Nabi congregation last year.
He said that the October 18 tragedy was the result of those relaxations and favours that were given over the last six years by the establishment to obscurantist forces. He said that such fascist forces could not scare people who were struggling for civil liberties and justice. He described the killings as a continuation of those sacrifices that were rendered ever since 1947 for democracy and supremacy of the constitution.
