HYDERABAD, Oct 22: The consultants, contractors, and concerned officials have been directed by the District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil to complete the renovation of Rani Bagh at the earliest. It is the only recreational spot for the people of Hyderabad and adjoining areas.
He said Rs50 million was earmarked for renovation work which had been enhanced to Rs150 million because of the recreational needs of the people. He made the comments while inspecting the ongoing development work of Rani Bagh, on Monday.Chief Resident Engineer of Usmani and Company Niaz Ali Shar, Deputy Project Director Kafeel Ahmed and other concerned officials were present during his visit.
Kanwar Naveed Jamil said Rani Bagh was not only a recreational park but also a historical and cultural heritage of Sindh. He regretted the indifferent attitude of rulers who did not give importance to this park and depriving people of a recreational facility.
He said the present district government had not only taken revolutionary steps to streamline water supply and drainage system and improve health and educational system along with infrastructure but also chalked out an elaborate programme to provide recreational facilities to public.
He said in furtherance of this objective, work had begun at 33 parks and playgrounds in all the four talukas of Hyderabad in the first phase with some projects already completed.
In this context, he quoted Shaikh Ayaz Park in Naseem Nagar Qasimabad, Bhittai Park in Bhittai Nagar, Mustafa Park in Noorani Basti and some others. The District Nazim also directed the consultant and contractors to accelerate the pace of work on water supply and sewerage schemes.
He said two filter plants with the capacity of 800MGD water each will be made operational by the end of the year. He expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of work on Hala Naka and Paretabad filter plants. About Rs800 million was being spent on these two plants. WATER ROTATION: Due to the shortage of water in Rohri Main canal, Executive Engineer Naseer Division Hyderabad announced rotation programme for the Naseer Branch System.
According to programme announced on Monday, irrigation water will be available in Tajpur Minor, Kunnar-I Distributary and Qaisar Minor of Tajpur sub-division, Somarki Distributary, Seeri Distributary, Mani Minor, Mullan Minor, Gothano Minor, Kunnar-II Distributary, direct outlets of Rohri Main Canal of Tando Muhammad Khan sub-division, Balghai Distributary, Gharib Distributary, Tando Soomar-I, Tando Allahyar-I, direct outlets of Naseer Branch from RD-90 to RD-142 and Tando Soomar of Tando Allahyar sub-division, Tando Ghulam Ali Distributary, Pir Sakhi-II Minor and Chang Minor of Chang sub-division, Wagharji Distributary, Basran-II Minor, Ghango Minor, Sangi Minor, Jarkas Distributary and direct outlets of Naseer branch from RD-220 to RD-354 of Khairpur Ghambo sub-division and Chambar-II minor and Chakar Distributary of Group-III of Bukerani sub-division up to October 28.
All other waterways of other sub-divisions of Naseer division branch system will remain closed.
