RAWALPINDI, Nov 4: The Waris Khan police SHO was suspended and booked on Sunday when he was found guilty of patronising a gambling den, a police spokesman told Dawn.

The police are conducting raids to arrest the accused official identified as Jahangir Khan.

The spokesman said the SHO was charged after it emerged that he was behind the reopening of a gambling den in the area.

“In the light of intelligence that a gambling den is being run by a person R.N. with the blessing of Waris Khan police SHO, a raid was carried out that led to the arrest of five alleged gamblers and seizure of stake money worth Rs351,000 and three cellphones,” he said.

Those arrested were identified as M. Ameer Afzal, Mohammad Shafiq, Mohammad Suleman, Mohammad Akbar and Abdul Razaq.
