LAHORE, Nov 5: Lack of coordination between the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and its affiliated units was visibly exposed when the federation came to know after five days that its Balochistan unit had failed to start Gen. Musa Hockey Cup, which was to be held in Quetta from Nov 1.

According to a PHF media official, the Balochistan Hockey Association, informed the PHF on Monday that it had postponed the tournament and fresh dates would be announced later.

“The PHF was under the impression that the tournament must have started as per schedule but on Monday the organisers informed us about the postponement for different reasons,” media manager Altaf Sabir said.

Asked if the PHF had no monitoring system to follow the calendar of activities Altaf said it was the duty of the organisers to inform the PHF about any latest development.

He said Balochistan had shown great interest for the tournament but the postponement was disappointing.

Interestingly, the PHF has also been appointing tournament director and various other officials to conduct the tournament but none of them even bothered to inform the PHF.
