Police raid Nawabshah Press Club

NAWABSHAH, Nov 10: A heavy contingent of police along with Rangers raided Nawabshah Press Club and removed black flags hoisted there on Saturday.The police and Rangers cordoned- off the press club building while the SHO A-Section, Ghulam Nabi Kharal, along with police force entered the premises of the club and removed black flags hoisted atop the building.

The SHO also issued threats to journalists. The police virtually besieged the building for about two hours.

Later, journalists in an urgent meeting condemned the police action and termed it harassment to the journalist community.

They said that the journalists were performing their professional duties in accordance with the rules and regulations and demanded an enquiry into the matter and removal of the SHO A-Section.

WORKERS ARREST: Police conducted raids at various places and arrested more than three PPP activists in a crackdown on Friday night.

Nawabshah police arrested three PPP activists, including Nizakat Brohi, Sher Afzal Awan and Masood Arain, from different places whereas raids were also conducted at PPP district office in Gharibabad and Zardari house for the arrest of PPP office-bearers.

Sources told this scribe that at least four police mobiles cordoned off the house and tried to enter the premises but returned when they were offered resistance.
