LAHORE, Nov 11: The interim chief minister for Punjab who will supervise the electoral process will be a man to be proposed by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, knowledgeable sources say.

Similarly, the ministers to be inducted in the provincial setup will also be the favourites of the outgoing chief minister.

It is said that powers that be will give Pervaiz Elahi a free hand in the elections to enable him to maintain his grip on the country’s biggest province, which plays a pivotal role in the battle for Islamabad.

Pervaiz Elahi is now a candidate for the office of the prime minister. It is said that he will contest the NA election from more than one seat to ensure his victory.

He will also retain a provincial seat for himself as a second option to become chief minister for another term, in case of any change in the situation.

Some party leaders say that Mr Shaukat Aziz is also aspiring for the post for another term. However, it is not clear if he stands any chance.

Some party leaders say that Mr Aziz may contest the election from Kashmore and Attock constituencies.

However, others say that it is yet to be decided which seat he will choose for himself.
