KOHAT, Nov 15: The Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) has been flouting orders of the Peshawar High Court issued last month of filling 10 vacant seats in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), which has resulted in wastage of an academic year of the candidates.
The father of an aggrieved student told Dawn that the university had announced admissions to BBA in December 2006 but the process was closed without filling 10 of the 100 seats offered.
The candidates on the waiting list should have been admitted on the 10 seats but the university administration decided not to do so, he said.
Advocate Masoodur Rehman showed copies of a complaint written to NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Orakzai and the order of two PHC judges to the convener of the admission committee to fill the vacant seats.
His son Sabir Rehman had prayed in his applications that “approximately 90 seats were filled on merit and fitness out of 100 seats originally notified in the discipline of BBA. Even after the expiry of due date of admission, 10 seats were left vacant without any reason.” He alleged that priority on domicile and other aspects had been ignored in the admissions.
