CHITRAL, Nov 17: A former MNA from Chitral, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali has urged the government to hold an inquiry into the affairs of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP).

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he claimed that the organisation was being used for political purposes at the behest of Shahzada Mohyuddin instead of poverty alleviation.

He said that development schemes were sanctioned by the SRSP staff on the basis of favouritism.

Maulana Chitrali alleged that all projects accomplished by the organisation were substandard and added that the SRSP could even affect the impartiality of the coming polls.

He said that the organisation’s functioning should be suspended till the completion of the election process.
