NAWABSHAH, Nov 22: The hearing of Rasool Bux Brohi murder case was adjourned to Dec 4 after police failed to produce any of the accused in court on Wednesday.

Police told the court that none of the accused including former SP and In-charge of Lyari Task Force could be produced due to the extra duties of police during emergency.

District and Sessions Judge of Nawabshah Ghulam Qadir Leghari had been transferred to Sanghar and the first additional sessions judge was looking after affairs till the post was filled.

TRANSFER: Nawabshah DPO Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Jamali has been transferred to Karachi whereas Umerkot DPO Syed Ghayasuddin Rashidi has been posted as new DPO of Nawabshah.

Syed Ghayasuddin Rashidi who has been SP of Investigation and DSP of Saddar Nawabshah will soon assume the charge.

VOTERS: A total of 632,070, including 341,645 male and 290,425 female voters, would cast votes on Jan 8, 2008 according to finalised voters’ lists, sources in the district’s election commission office said on Wednesday.

The number had been cut down to almost 409,000 from the previous 645,715 in provisional computerised lists in June 2007 prompting the commission to invite registration of fresh voters. Besides, the commission also included 2002 voters’ list on the directives of Supreme Court making a total 632,070.

Nawabshah Assistant Election Commissioner Ali Asghar Siyal confirmed the total number of voters and said that he had received a number of fresh applications for registration of votes before the announcement of elections schedule, which had been put in process and would soon be taken on the list.—Correspondent
