PPP’s ticket to Hina raises eyebrows

MUZAFFARGARH, Nov 25: Some PPP circles are unhappy with the award of party ticket for NA-177 to former state minister Hina Rabbani Khar and demanded withdrawal of the decision, it is learnt here.

Ms Hina Khar entered the folds of PPP and managed to get party ticket for a National Assembly seat. Earlier, she was rejected by the PML. She did not face any problem in getting PPP ticket as she is the daughter-in-law of Wajid Shamsul Hasan, a close friend of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari.

Ms Hina Khar will contest elections against her uncle and former PPP leader, Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar.

Talking to this correspondent, PPP aspirant for NA-178, Jamshed Dasti, said: “The Hina Rabbani issue will be disastrous for the party because the people of this district do not like the Khar family in PPP.”

He said the party workers and candidates were angry with the top leadership and sent a message to Benazir Bhutto in this regard.

On Sunday, a PPP meeting was held at the residence of PML leader Abdul Samad Bhatti who joined Ms Bhutto.

Meanwhile PPP leader Mian Mohsin Qureshi said: “The party asked me to file nominations for NA-177 and now awarded ticket to Hina Khar and all workers are disappointed with this situation.”

Jamshed Dasti said if the top leadership did not withdraw the decision, he would not contest from the PPP platform. — Malik Tehseen Raza
