HYDERABAD, Nov 28: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil said on Wednesday that the district government was spending Rs800 million on installing filter plants and replacing 4,000 feet of worn out pipelines with new ones.

The nazim said during a visit to the site of laying water supply lines in Liaquat Colony that the work was expected to be completed within 10 to 12 days, and urged the officials of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to finish with the work within stipulated period.

He said that two new filter plants at Hala Naka and Paretabad were near completion and would hopefully become operational within a few weeks.

TRIBUTE: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Tuesday paid tribute to the Lions Club for providing free of charge medical services to the underprivileged section of society.

He said after opening a five-day 34th eye camp organised by the club at the police ground that tens of thousands of people were suffering from different eye diseases but they were unable to seek medical help due to limited resources.

He called upon the philanthropists and welfare organisations to emulate the Lions Club.

The district governor of the Lions Club, Ms Najma Altaf, chairman Haji Rafique Memon, vice-chairman Pyar Ali, Dr Gulzar Iqbal Ghousia and Farooq Sheikhani informed the nazim that 600 eye patients would be operated upon, provided eye lenses and 40 days medicines free of cost during the five-day camp.
