LAHORE, Dec 1: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf leader Imran Khan vowed to ‘avenge’ the manhandling of PTI female activists on Nov 20. At a meeting of party’s women wing here on Saturday, he said: “What happened to me on the Punjab University campus was a small matter. I was shocked that it got so much coverage”, before adding: “But what happened to our women that day, neither I nor Tehrik-i-Insaaf can forgive it.

“God willing this is my promise to you. We will follow every path available to take action against the unprovoked and savage police action.”

Commenting on the incident, Saloni Bukhari, a PTI Punjab leader, at whose house the meeting took place, said many people even from outside the party condemned the police action and expressed solidarity with the activists.

“And I think this is a great triumph for the Tehreek women’s wing that we’ve been able to sensitise those who usually don’t take active part in the political process.”

The meeting, attended by around 100 party workers as well as non-aligned members of civil society, included a question and answer session. It was conducted in the presence of a dozen or so police officers.
