PESHAWAR, Dec 1: PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto arrived in the city on Saturday to launch the election campaign of her party candidates running for over 90 provincial and 30 national assembly seats in the Frontier province.
The PPP leader will stay in the city for two days. On her arrival, she met PPP provincial information secretary Dr Arbab Alamgir and condoled with him the death of his father Arbab Jehangir Khan. Ms Bhutto also visited the residence of Syed Qamar Abbas, PPP provincial senior vice-president, who was killed a few months ago.
She condoled with the widow and children of Mr Abbas over his tragic death.
She addressed party ticket-holders and office-bearers of different party wings at the residence of Syed Zahir Shah, president PPP Peshawar division.
The city police had sealed all roads leading to the Zahir Shah’s residence.—Bureau
