HYDERABAD, Dec 2: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said the month of December will herald a new era in Hyderabad as the first flyover will be completed there, the Paretabad filter plant will become operational and work on five more flyovers and three bridges will be started.

He said this while inaugurating new water pipelines at Cheetal Chari here on Saturday night.

City taluka nazim Javed Jabbar, UC nazims and councillors of the area, MD Wasa and other officials of the district government were present on the occasion.

Kanwar Naveed Jamil claimed that the present district government within the short period had resolved all the major problems of the city.

He said that the development schemes were being launched keeping in view the needs of people in 2025.

BRIDGES: The district nazim on Saturday night visited the sites of bridges that were to be constructed on Pinyari canal and Lined channel.

He directed the consultant, contractors and officials of the district government to work round the clock to complete the construction of the road from Liaquat colony to the vegetable market and the construction of bridges on Pinyari canal and Lined channel.

The nazim said these schemes on which an amount of Rs175 million has been spent must be completed within next few months.

Food preservation: Former vice-chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam and Rector of Al-Khair University, Dr Abdul Qadir Ansari has said that in Kohistan and other backward areas people are faced with food problems which further aggravated the situation when vegetables and other edibles are in short supply.

Dr Abdul Qadir Ansari stressed upon the need for preservation of vegetables, fruits and food items for consumption during off season.

He said the department of food and technology of Sindh Agriculture University could play a pivotal role in preservation of food items in a scientific manner.

Dr Abdul Qadir Ansari was speaking at a function organised by the Food and Technology Department of the university at the campus.
