Rising euro

Published December 6, 2007

PARIS, Dec 5: French Economy Minister Christine Lagarde said she will question on Wednesday EADS chief Louis Gallois about the rising euro after he suggested the aerospace company would move production to dollar-based zones.

“I will be meeting Mr. Gallois shortly to ask him precisely how he is going to proceed with his Power8 (restructuring) plan in the context of a strong euro,” Lagarde told parliament.

EADS, the French-German parent company of aircraft manufacturer Airbus, has grown increasingly concerned that a falling dollar is undercutting its earnings, which are given in euros, and making its products less competitive.—AFP
