NAWABSHAH, Dec 5: Acting President PPP Nawabshah and candidate for PS-27 Ghulam Qadir Chandio accused caretaker wildlife minister of running election campaign of his son.

In a communication to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Wednesday, Ghulam Qadir Chandio alleged the Sindh Wildlife Minister Ghulam Rasool Unnar was running election campaign of his son Abdul Hafeez Unnar (PML-Q), his rival candidate.

He said the minister was pressurizing supporters and voters of the PPP in constituencies PS-27 and NA-214 through police and he expressed fear elections would not be held in fair and free manner.

He demanded of the CEC to take notice of complaint.

Ghulam Qadir Chandio told Dawn that he also met the provincial election commissioner and returning officer to record his complaint.

He said the minister remained an active member of the PML-Q and adviser to ex-chief minster while his son Abdul Hafeez Unnar was contesting election from the PS-27 Nawabshah-IV.

He said claims of the government to conduct free and fair elections will not be credible if activities of the minister continued.

MINISTER: Caretaker Minister for Forests and Wildlife Ghulam Rasool Unar directed a departmental meeting at the Forest Rest House in Sakrand on Wednesday to take steps for the conservation of forests and wildlife.

He ordered strict action against land-grabbers to retrieve official land and measures to discourage elements cutting down forests.
