KARACHI: Pipeline damaged

Published December 6, 2007

KARACHI, Dec 5: A water pipeline in Khayaban-i-Sehar in the Defence Housing Authority sustained damage during the work being carried out in the area for the replacement of oil pipelines running parallel to it, resulting in seepage of oil into the water conduit.

Residents of more than 40 houses in the locality on Wednesday complained that their underground tanks had received oil-mixed water.

The DHA administration, which has started repairing the damaged water line, said it was in contact with the National Refinery authorities to ensure prevention of such incidents in future. The refinery officials had been told to intimate the DHA prior to undertaking such works, it added.—A Reporter
