LAHORE, Dec 5: Four goals each by Naheed, Fazeelat and Sobia helped Faisalabad crush Islamabad 16-0 on Wednesday in the National women’s hockey championship at the National Hockey Stadium.

Leading the first half by 7-0, Faisalabad, giving no respite to Islamabad, added nine more goals in the second.

Bismillah, Asma, Farhana and Marriam added one goal each.

In their match against Police, four goals by Azra helped defending champions Wapda earn an impressive 6-1 win.

With Police managing to keep them at bay initially, Wapda, failed to impress in the first half with the scores locked at 1-1. But the second half saw them as unmatchable when they pumped in five goals while conceding no more to their opponents.

Saima Afzal, who contributed two goals, was Wapda’s other scorer. The consolation goal for Police was struck by Nazia.

Earlier, two-goal Zakia enabled Sukkur to carve out a 5-0 win against Multan. The winners had a 2-0 lead at the breather to which one goal each was added by Rozina, Amber and Nainara.

Farheen and Rizwana banged home twice each to steer Hyderabad to a 5-1 triumph against Dera Ghazi Khan. Tajwar chipped in the other one for Hyderabad who were leading with 2-0 in the first session. Meanwhile, Humaira scored the solitary goal for the losing side.
