HYDERABAD: Shots fired at house of MS

HYDERABAD, Dec 6: Miscreants fired shots at the residence of Medical Superintendent (MS), Liaquat University Hospital, Dr Mohammad Waseem Shaikh, on Wednesday night.

The MS held responsible the PPP-SB activists for it. He resides in the Left Wing Barrage Colony within the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station. Wednesday night’s incident ensued death of a PPP-SB supporter Raja Khemchand.

Dr Waseem Shaikh said Khemchand died a natural death few days back in hospital’s Casualty Ward. He said the PPP-SB activists including Majeed Siyal, Majeed Soomro, Kashif Kamimkhani alias Kashif Baghi and Irfan Malik had been pressing him “to do something in the matter”. He said he submitted three applications regarding threats issued to him by Soomro, Malik, and Baghi at Market Police Station.

Shots were fired at around 10pm when the MS was not at home and informed by his brother. His neighbour saw the attackers and can identify. Majeed Siyal and Hyder Khokhar visited the place soon after to dispel the impression of their involvement.

A case had been lodged on the compliant of Medical Superintendent under sections 324, 427, 504, 506, 34 PPC vide crime no 161. Another case was also lodged with the Market Police Station regarding threat.

The MS said while these people were sitting there he received a call from Kashif Baghi who took the responsibility of the attack and further threatened to murder him. He said Kashif Baghi and Khemchand were illegal occupants of hospital’s hostel.

Meanwhile, Sindh Para Medical Staff Welfare Association staged a rally in hospital premises, demanding arrest of the accused. Central President of Association Abdul Latif Otho, General Secretary Nazeer Rajpar, Abdul Sattar Malkani, Qadir Jatoi, Lalu Tanoli spoke at the general body meeting.

DIES: A 16-year old boy died under mysterious circumstances in Brohi Goth, near Husri late on Wednesday night.

According to some friends, the boy Abdul Sattar Brohi’s was riding a bike with his uncle carrying a pistol. It was learnt that the bottom of his uncle’s shalwar got entangled in the footrest upon which pistol fell and trigger went-off hitting Brohi. The boy received bullet in his head and died in the hospital.

SSC EXAMS: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad has announced forms from candidates for SSC Part-11 annual examinations will be accepted till January 3, 2008, without late fee up to 21 with late fee of Rs200; February 12 with Rs400 late fee; February 29 with Rs800 late fee; and up to March 20 with Rs1,000 late fee.
