LARKANA, Dec 7: Research papers covering various fields in medical sciences were presented at a Chandka Medical College (CMC) symposium on Friday. Prof Abdul Majeed Chaudhri, Principal of the Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore, in his paper titled ‘horrors of surgery’ said blunder committed in operation theatres could no more be suppressed. People would come to know about them and sue the persons responsible.

He said such surgeons were fast losing the credibility. He accepted malpractices taking place in this noble profession and said law was taking its turn against erring practitioners. In Punjab he said, certain law firms had begun registering cases against doctors committing howlers. He was against neglecting even the smallest mistake and asked surgeons to take guidance from their senior.

Prof Aamir Zaman Khan from Lahore focused on imparting educating undergraduates with the help of plastic models at pre-clinic level to make them confident in dealing with patients in hospital.

Prof Tasneem Ahsan from the JPMC Karachi discussed prolactinoma in males and females. She stressed upon its diagnosis as a first step and subsequent treatment as neglect on any account could prove dangerous for the patient.

Prof Imtiaz Rasool from Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore deliberated on Quran and Science.
