MANSEHRA, Dec 12: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) are likely to reach a seat adjustment agreement in Mansehra district for the coming elections.

There are two seats of the National Assembly and six of the NWFP Assembly in the district.

Sources said PML(N) district president Aslam Khan Baffa and JUI district amir Hadaytullah Shah had finalised the names of the candidates after consultation.

The list of the candidates would be approved by the leaders of the two parties on Thursday or Friday, they said.

According to the understating at the local level, Gen (retd) Salaudeen Tirmazee of the PML(N) will be the joint candidate of the two parties for NA-20 against former MNA Shahjahan Yousaf of the PML(Q) and the JUI’s Hadaitullah Shah will withdraw his nomination papers.

For NA-21, the JUI’s candidate Senator Azam Khan Swati will withdraw his nomination papers in favour of the PML(N)’s Faiz Khan.

The PML(N) will withdraw its candidates for provincial assembly seats PF-54, PF-55 and PF-56 in favour of Hadaitullah Shah, Mufti Kifaitullah and Maulana Nasir Mehmood of the JUI, respectively.
