SIALKOT, Dec 13: Gas and power supply disruption in many parts of Punjab is creating problems for the people. On Thursday, gas supply to almost all residential, commercial and industrial areas of Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur remained suspended for hours.

The supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) to filling stations also remained suspended throughout the district. Long queues of vehicles were seen at CNG stations. .

Local Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) officials said an increase in gas consumption and low pressure due to cold weather had caused the problem. They said the problem would persist till the end of the ongoing cold wave.

In Toba Tek Singh, people condemned the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company’s move to shut power in the city for six hours a day and in rural areas for 12 hours a day.

They said Fesco had increased loadshedding hours with the beginning of the cold season that affected small industries of the area.

In Okara, people are suffering because of unscheduled gas loadshedding. Local SNGPL official called it ‘load management’. In Bahawalpur, people are suffering because of three to four hours power loadshedding daily. Gujranwala division is also hit by disruption in gas supply.
