HYDERABAD, Dec 14: Number of writers and former secretary generals and office-bearers of Sindhi Adabi Sangat (SAS) have announced of boycotting Golden Jubilee Conference being held in Karachi on Saturday and Sunday (Dec 15&16).

A statement was issued here on Thursday on behalf of writers, former secretary general of SAS Taj Joyo and former treasurer Azad Anwar Kandhro. According to them writers of Sindh such as Gobind Malhi, Mangharam Malkani, Aasanand Mamtora and Shaikh Ayaz founded the Sangat in 1947.

It said keeping this in view ‘SAS Golden Jubilee Conference was held at Sindh Museum Hyderabad, on Dec 28, during the tenure of Ayaz Gul as Secretary General. The conference was attended by former secretary generals of the Sangat Shamsherul Haideri, Tanveer Abbasi, Shams Soomro and others where golden jubilee awards, certificates and shields were conferred upon.

“Writers and intellectuals such as Rasool Bux Palijo, Abdul Wahid Arisar, Hameed Sindhi, Fatah Malik and others are witness to 2007 conference being converted into a condolence meeting due to sudden death of national poet Shaikh Ayaz,” revealed the statement.—Bureau
