NAWABSHAH: Policemen’s bail rejected

NAWABSHAH, Dec 15: The district and session judge Nawabshah rejected the bail application of the former incharge Lyari Task Force (LTF) and others in the Rasool Bux Brohi murder case and adjourned the hearing till Jan 12 here on Saturday.

All the accused including former SP and incharge LTF Chaudhry Aslam; DSP Irfan Bahadur; Inspectors, Nasirul Hassan, Mohammad Ishaque Lashari, Sarwar Commando, Syed Safdar Ali Shah; sub-inspectors, Mujeebur Rehman, Mir Farosh, Asif Jameel; ASIs Abdul Ghani Khushik, Mohammad Iqbal Niazi; head-constable Bahadur Shah; constable Hidayatullah and police informer Nazeer alias Nazru Khaskheli were produced before the court from Karachi amid tight security.

Defence counsel Mohammad Sharif Siyal, Aamir Mansoor Qureshi and Mohammad Ilyas argued that the accused were in jail for the last 17 months.

They said that Rasool Bux was Mashooq Brohi and he used to change his names and many cases were registered against him for which evidence had been provided before the court.

They prayed to the court to grant bail to accused.

Syed Nasir Shah, counsel of complainant Ms Lal Bibi, said that extra judicial killings were a normal practice of Lyari Task force.

He said that the force had killed many innocent people and obtained rewards and benefits and their bail may be rejected.

He said that witness Siddiq Brohi had changed statement due to pressure of the accused.

The judge adjourned the hearing till Jan 12.
