ATTOCK, Dec 16: After the withdrawal of nominations, 60 candidates are in the run for three National Assembly and seven provincial assembly seats in Attock and Taxila.

The returning officers on Sunday issued the final list of 17 candidates with their election symbols vying for three National (NA-57, NA-58, NA-59) and 24 for provincial assembly seats (PP- 15, PP-16,PP-17,PP-18 and PP-19) of the district. The constituency-wise list of candidates along with their election symbols, obtained from the ROs is as under:-

NA-57 ATTOCK-I: RO Chaudhry Abdul Haq allotted symbols to eight aspirants including a woman candidate, former MNA Eman Waseem of PML-Q, (Fan), former state minister Malik Amin Aslam an independent (Elephant), Sheikh Aftab Ahmed of PML-N (Tiger), Advocate Syed Azmat Ali Bukhari of PPP (Arrow), Hafiz Saeed Ahmad of MMA (Book), Qari Atiqur Rehman (Table), Muhammad Faisal Khanzada (Bus) and Advocate Syed Munirul Haq of MQM (kite).

NA-58 ATTOCK-II: The RO Malik Muhammad Rafique allotted election symbols to five candidates namely former Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of PML-Q (Bicycle), Malik Ramzan (Bus), Sardar Shahnawaz of PPP (Arrow), Malik Sohail Khan of PML-N (Tiger) and Abdul Salam Hasan Raza of MMA (Book).

NA-59 ATTOCK-III: RO Habibullah Amir allotted symbols to four aspirants — Waseem Gulzar of PML-Q (Bicycle), Advocate Malik Asif of PML-N (Tiger), Sardar Saleem Haidar Khan of PPP (Arrow) and Iftikhar Ahmad Khan (Scooter).

PP-15 ATTOCK-1: The RO allotted election symbols to three aspirants — Syed Ejaz Bukhari of PML-Q (Bicycle), Malik Shahan Khan of PPP (Arrow) and Sheikh Suleman Sarwar of PML-N (Tiger).

PP-16 ATTOCK-II: The RO allotted election symbols to seven candidates — former provincial minister Col (retd) Shujah Khanzada (Elephant), Qari Muhammad Ismail (Pomegranate) Anar, Zubair Khan (Tonga), Fazlur Rehman Wardak of PML-N (Tiger), Dr Naeem Awan of PPP (Arrow), Aftab Khan Wardak (Helicopter) and Qari Atiqur Rehman of MMA (Book).

PP-17 ATTOCK-III: The RO allotted election symbols to five aspirant — Sardar Muhammad Ali of PML-N (Tiger), Chaudhry Sher Ali of Q League (Bicycle), Asad Zaman Khan (Bus), Ishtiaq Ahmed of PPP (Arrow) and Shahabuddin Qureshi of MMA (Book).

PPP-18 ATTOCK-IV: The RO allotted election symbols to provincial minister Col (retd) Malik Muhammad Anwar of PML-Q (Bicycle), former tehsil nazim Pindigheb Malik Khurram Ali Khan of PPP (Arrow) and Malik Asif Ali Khan of PML-N (Tiger).

PP-19 ATTOCK-V: The RO allotted election symbols to Sadia Ahmed (Flower Vase), Sardar Mumtaz Khan of PML-N (Tiger), Malik Atabar of PML-Q (Bicycle), Sardar Muhammad Ameer of PPP (Arrow), Muhammad Ramzan (Bus) and Abdul Salam Hasan Raza of MMA (Book). Surprisingly no any appeal against the nomination papers was filed before Election Tribunal this time.

Our correspondent from Taxila adds: The returning officer allotted election symbols to 19 candidates for one National Assembly and two provincial assembly seats.

JI and lawyers candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers to boycott the January 8 elections.

According to the official notification seven candidates are in the race for one National assembly seat NA-53. They are: former minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan of PML-Q (Bicycle), Sardar Shoaib Mumtaz of PPP (Arrow), Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan of PML-N (Tiger), Faisal Iqbal (football), Chaudhry Kamran Aslam (bus), Kashif Ali Khan of MQM (Kite) and Malik Muhammad Khalid (Scooter).

Twelve aspirants are in the run for two provincial assembly seat PP-7, and PP-8. the candidates are: Chaudhry Kamran Aslam (Bus), Muhammad Shafiq Khan of PML-Q (Bicycle), Hafiz Muhammad Haroon of MMA (Book), Zile Huma of PML-N (Tiger), Askari Hassan Syed of PPP (Arrow), Malik Muhammad Khalid (Scooter), Malik Taimur Masood of PML-Q (Bicycle), Zile Huma of PML-N (Tiger), Amir Iqbal of PPP (Arrow), Kashif Ali Khan of MQM (Kite), Prof Akhtar Abbas (Cat) and Amjad Hussain Shah (screw driver).
