DADU, Dec 17: A large number of activists of Pakistan People’s Party staged a demonstration outside the press club on Monday in protest against former federal minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi.
PPP leaders Pir Mazharul Haq, Dost Ali Jessar and Hashim Qambrani who led the protest accused Liaquat Ali Jatoi who was PML-Q candidate for NA-232 and PS-73 Sehwan of using government machinery in electioneering. All the officers of the district government and police were busy in electioneering for the former federal minister, they claimed.
They warned that if the officers did not stop supporting Liaquat Jatoi, the party would resist them. Liaquat was also mobilising Wapda officers in election work.
He appealed to Election Commission for action.
DEFECTION: An independent candidate for PS-74 Dadu Pasha Khan Channa and PML-Q local leader Bashir Ahmed Channa announced in the presence of Pakistan People’s Party leaders Pir Mazharul Haq, Rafique Ahmed Jamali and Syed Murad Ali Shah that they were joining the PPP along with their supporters and party activists.
Pasha Khan said at a press conference late on Sunday night that he would support PPP candidates, Rafique Ahmed Jamali, Pir Mujeebul Haq and Syed Murad Ali Shah.
Pasha Khan Channa, and Bashir Ahmed Channa are close friends of former federal minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi, and wield influence in the constituencies of NA-232, PS-73 and PS-74.
KILLED: A police head constable was killed and another suffered injuries in an encounter between police and armed bandits on the Kandpur-Pateji link road in Mehar taluka late on Sunday night.
The robbers shot dead Head Constable Dildar Bhand and injured Constable Sikandar Jatoi when they resisted their attempt to rob them near Illahi Bux Jhatial village.
The robbers took away their weapons and escaped on their motorcycle. Thariri Mohabbat police have registered an FIR against five unidentified armed men.
Police arrested 15 suspects after raids on several places.
The policeman’s body was taken to his native village Khudabad and the injured was admitted to taluka hospital.
LOAD-SHEDDING: A large number of people and social workers staged a protest on Monday against unscheduled and unannounced load-shedding in the town.
Led by Qaim Ali Siyal and Gulsher Solangi the protesters said that Hesco officials imposed load-shedding on the town and issued detection bills every month to cover losses from theft of power by factory owners and influential persons.
